The Hound of the Baskervilles is one of the most famous detective novels by Arthur Conan Doyle. It was first published in 1901–1902 as a serialized story and later as a novel in 1902. It features the legendary detective Sherlock Holmes and his friend Dr. John Watson.
The story begins when a mysterious legend surrounds the wealthy Baskerville family. According to the legend, a terrifying supernatural hound haunts the family, and after the sudden death of Sir Charles Baskerville, his heir, Sir Henry Baskerville, appears to be in danger. Holmes sends Watson to investigate the strange events on the gloomy moors surrounding Baskerville Hall. As the mystery unfolds, Holmes uncovers clues that blur the line between superstition and reality.

George’s Marvelloys Medicine

Story Summary:
George Kranky is a young boy who lives on a farm with his parents and his grumpy, mean-spirited grandmother. One day, while his parents are away, George decides to teach his grandmother a lesson by creating a special medicine. He mixes together a wild assortment of household products, including shampoo, toothpaste, floor polish, and other unusual ingredients.
When his grandmother drinks the medicine, extraordinary things happen. She grows taller and taller, shoots up through the roof, and behaves in bizarre ways. George’s father is amazed and hopes the medicine can be used to make farm animals grow bigger. George tries to recreate the recipe, but because he cannot remember all the ingredients, each new batch produces strange and unpredictable effects. Some animals grow enormous, some shrink, and others change in unexpected ways.
In the end, George makes one final batch for his grandmother. Instead of growing, she shrinks smaller and smaller until she disappears completely. George’s parents accept what has happened, and life on the farm returns to normal.
